Fellow Chesapeake District Civitans,
I hope this finds you and your family safe and well during this unusual time. With disappointment, I must advise you that due of our ongoing Pandemic situation, and the demographic of our members, your District Officers have unanimously voted to cancel our in-person Annual convention. The convention was to be held September 11-13, 2020 in Harrisburg, PA. If you have already made your reservations with the Red Lion hotel, please make sure to cancel your reservation as soon as possible. Their phone number is (717) 939-7841.
A committee has been appointed to plan an organized virtual convention for the same weekend. More information will be coming from that committee over the next several weeks. We hope to offer every member an opportunity for service, knowledge and fellowship. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for the convention or if there are specific topics you would like addressed at that time during brief sessions.
As a reminder, our International convention is being held virtually July 23-29. Please visit the International website by clicking HERE for more information. It would be great to have a significant turnout from the Chesapeake District for the convention.
I know you are wondering about our officer elections and meetings for the next Civitan year. Please know that our Board of Directors will be meeting soon and are considering all options for the issues that have been created by this pandemic.
It is amazing how so many of us have adjusted to this new “normal” of getting together by virtual meetings. Many clubs are still meeting and having projects in this manner. The work that we do as Civitans is still vitally important to our communities and I am excited that as hard as it has been, it has taught us that our work can continue.
